People in the Beyond Wartime film

John Henry Parker, veteran and executive director of Veterans and Families, is a former U.S. Marine and parent to a soldier serving in the Army’s 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan. He spent a long career as a consultant for organizational and personal development before recognizing the enormous needs of returning veterans and founding VeteransAndFamilies.org.

Sheila Sebron is a disabled Air Force veteran living with chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and severe pain. She now teaches other trauma survivors how to recover, rehabilitate, and reintegrate into the community. Her personal mission is to teach disadvantaged people strategies for becoming personally and economically empowered, and using that empowerment as a vehicle for creating positive change in their own lives and the lives of others.

 

Admiral Bill Owens is former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the second-ranking military officer in the United States. He had responsibility for the reorganization and restructuring of the armed forces in the post-Cold War era. Owens is now president and chief executive officer of Nortel. Bill is active in addressing needs of returning vets.

 

Dr Enas Mohamed, Iraqi physician, is on the board of the Iraq Community Center in Seattle, WA. Dr. Mohamed returned from touring Baghdad hospitals and neighborhoods in November of 2004 in order to sum up the medical needs of the Iraqi civilian population. Dr. Mohamed is a researcher into effects of depleted uranium on cancers and other diseases at a research center in Seattle.
